As Quality Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the site Quality department. Your responsibilities include ensuring that waste and product analysis is conducted promptly and efficiently, following the directives of the site Production and Quality Assurance Manager. A crucial aspect of your role is maintaining specific and accurate records throughout the process whilst reviewing areas within the process that can be improved.
To analyse and visualise performance in association with best practice. Identify opportunities for continuous improvements. To monitor the plant performance and quality data.
Highlight improvements to enhance productivity. Analyse costs and identify cost saving initiatives. Develop and maintain KPI's with input into weekly/monthly reports. Further key responsibilities include development of site improvement plan and input and quality management plan.

K The most important tasks, activities, and responsibilities (RASCI)
- Monitor the effectiveness of the Quality Management plan and site improvement plan and highlight improvements to enhance productivity.
- Develop and maintain KPI's and quality data to measure performance or Asset performance:
- Monitor plant performance.
- Assist Quality manager in the Quality Management plan.
- Weekly review the top 5 downtimes and top 5 quality offenders
- Initiatives, targets & objectives
- Workforce productivity
- Training & development for Quality operators.
- Health & Safety
- Ensure the production operations (Quality) are managed in line with Health and Safety legislation and N+P standards.
- To ensure that all sampling and monitoring always complies with the site Code of Practice.
- To manage and maintain the sampling regime for both waste inputs and product outputs.
- Responsibility for recording sample data and creation of the required reports
- To ensure that all Supervisory functions and requirements are covered on site whilst also deputising for the Production and Quality Manager as and when required.
- Ensure maximum recycling recovery (by-products) and efficiency is achieved throughout the process.
- Ensure the QMS procedures are followed and recorded.
- Ensure all operators, contractors and visitors are working to maximum efficiency and adhering to company safety systems.
- Personal development to cover the PAQA Manager when required.
- To comply with all safety instruction and procedures reporting any unsafe practices, accidents or incidents.
- Ensure all sampling and monitoring is carried out and recorded as per company procedures.
- Assist in the development of a safety culture at the site.
- Assist in the weighbridge functions; ensure waste being received is acceptable as per the Site Licence, report exceptions by the approved manner (Non- conformance reports).
- Ensure all tasks are suitably covered as per Health and Safety and Management requirements.
- Responsible for any areas that could have an impact on Quality, including site cleanliness.
The main job requirements and required experience are:
- All Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Access, VBA).
- Proven track record of producing analysis & insights.
- Structured and analytical approach to problem solving. Process driven.
- Good commercial and financial understanding.
- Experience working on own initiative and developing new approaches.
- Good knowledge of relevant Waste Management Legislation.
- Good knowledge of H&S regulation and safe systems of work.
- Good knowledge of plant and machinery relevant to waste recycling and recovery.
- Knowledge of the waste hierarchy and Duty of Care requirements.
- Previous experience in a similar operational role or environment.
- A proven track record of man management and production/maintenance management of an industrial/factory type facility.
- Full driving licence.
- English and Maths GCSE or equivalent.
Desirable
- Knowledge/Experience in the recycling industry, material, legislation.
- Financial modelling.
